One of the most often asked questions that I get, is where should you stay when sailing out of Port Everglades. From what I get, most people fly into Fort Lauderdale one or two days before cruising. This gives you some time to experience a little of Fort Lauderdale, even if you’re not renting a car.
Each time that someone asks me where to stay, I have a simple answer for them. Any hotel on 17th street causeway. The main reason for my suggestion is the close proximity to the Port itself. In addition to that, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, stores, supermarkets, and liquor stores. All in walking distance!
There are plenty of hotels there from all price ranges, so there are choices for everyone.
- Embassy Suites
- Extended Stay America
- Holiday Inn Express
- Renaissance Fort Lauderdale
- Hilton Marina
- Comfort Suites
Then there is the Hyatt Pier 66, but that one is over the bridge making it a little further from the action on 17th street. The great advantage that this hotel offers is the close proximity to the inlet so you can go see the ships leave port (One of our favorite activities)
Here are the directions for those interested in going to watch the ships sail out of port. You will find a little door there leading to the beach access.
Port Everglades, Beach Hotels
For those of you planning on staying a little longer the hotel options on the beach are immense. But as you can imagine beach hotels come at a price. You are able to find some more affordable options, but those come with some sacrifices. We have stayed in multiple hotels in Fort Lauderdale beach and loved them all, after all the location is what matters.
I only posted the ones that we have stayed in, there are plenty more to choose from.
