Police are investigating what appears to be a drowning of a Disney cruise ship passenger on Castaway Cay. According to the report, a 38 year old New York man drowned while swimming, although this is not yet confirmed. The incident occurred around 4 pm local time, the police added that an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The man was at the adult Serenity beach where there are no lifeguards on duty. However, there are lifeguards on the family beach and the sports beach. A Disney spokesman reported that they responded to the call promptly, and continue to work with Bahamian authorities.
The passenger was aboard the Disney Magic while on a five night cruise that departed from Miami.
